DON’T PANIC, YOUR HELPER IS WITHIN YOU
John 14:16 (NCV), “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither see Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.”
According to the words of Jesus, even Christians will face tribulations in this world: John 16:33 (NKJV) says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” The important thing we want to consider today is not whether troubles will come, but how you will react in the face of looming storms. Jesus tells us to be of good cheer in the face of tribulation, and you may think “is that even possible?” Yes, it is! If it were not possible, Jesus would not have said so.
God doesn’t want us terrified in the face of tribulation like people who do not have help, no. In Psalm 121:1-2 (NKJV) David said, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills – from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Yes, our help comes from the Lord, but much more in this New Testament era, we have something even better. God has positioned the Holy Spirit, our Helper, within us.
When Jesus was on earth, He was the first helper. Whenever the disciples needed something, they ran to Him; when He was not around, they were stranded until He came back. Matthew 17:14-17, “And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, Kneeling down to Him and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely… so I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him. Then Jesus said… How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” The disciples were stranded whenever Jesus was not around, but for you, your helper is always within you. Everywhere you go, help is present. No longer should you panic, rather, declare that you are helped of the Lord!
FURTHER STUDY: Psalm 124:2,3&8 (NKJV), “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us… Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
CONFESSION: I BOLDLY CONFESS, I CANNOT BE DEFEATED, I CANNOT BE FRUSTRATED. THE HOLY SPIRIT I HAVE RECEIVED IS WITHIN ME AS MY HELPER. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ALWAYS WITHIN ME IN HIS FULNESS, THEREFORE, IN THE MIDST OF TROUBLE I AM FULLY COVERED.
ACTION POINT: Rely confidently on the help of the Spirit.
