THURSDAY 6TH
HOW TO BEHAVE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD
-Pastor Olumese
1 Timothy 3:14-15 (NLT), “I am writing these things to you now, even though I hope to be with you soon, so that if I am delayed, you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. This is the church of the living God, which is the pillar and the foundation of truth.”
There are prescribed protocol for every environment. Acceptance and submission to the protocol of an environment is the spring board to greater access and privileges in any environment! Apostle Paul is the writer of our anchor scripture for today, and just in case you did not know, Apostle Paul was one of the greatest Church planters of the early church age. He planted and founded several churches and he continued to have spiritual oversight over all these churches even when he was physically bound in prison. In the latter part of our anchor scripture, Apostle Paul makes a very strong point which I want to start with. He said, “…This is the church of the living God…” It is very important that Christians everywhere (especially for us who belong to the Amazing Grace Nation), realize that the church belongs to God, we cannot come in and expect to make our own rules for how to run God’s church. Paul stresses that “…there is how to behave and conduct ourselves in the household of God.”
Although we came into church voluntarily, and although we have been born again into freedom and liberty, yet God expects us to submit ourselves to a higher standard of life and operation which is drawn from God’s word. God expects us to submit to this biblical ‘code of conduct’ willingly and in love. Galatians 5:13-15 says, “For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighour as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another.” Dear friend, the scripture is very clear, we must not give into fleshly motivated behavior such as fighting, quarrelling, back biting, caucus formation or division. God expects us to work in love and build one another up in the fear of God.
FURTHER STUDY: Exodus 4:22-23 (NIV), “Then say to pharaoh, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son. I told you to let my son go so he may worship me. But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.”
CONFESSION: I BOLDLY CONFESS, I KNOW THAT THE CHURCH IS GOD’S BABY. GOD DOES NOT TAKE IT LIGHTLY WITH ANYONE THAT JOKES, DISTURBS OR TRIES TO DESTROY HIS CHURCH. THEREFORE I WILL BEHAVE MYSELF WISELY. I WILL WALK IN LOVE AND SHUN FLESHLY DESIRES.
ACTION POINT: Be orderly and respectful to constituted authority in your church.
