KEEP YOUR SPIRIT ON FIRE FOR GOD
– Pastor Olumese
Romans 12:11-12 (NIV), “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Let me start today by making it crystal clear that your life cannot grow beyond the capacity of your spirit. Your spirit is too important in the scheme of your total life for you to live it to chance. You must always remind yourself that you do not just have a spirit, no, you are a spirit! Without a robust spirit, you are finished. You would be a cheap prey to the ever increasing dangers and calamities of the modern world! Job 17:1 (NKJV) says, “My Spirit is broken, my days are extinguished, the grave is ready for me.” The Bible also says in Proverbs 18:14 (NKJV), “The Spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but who can bear a broken spirit?”
The price to pay for a diseased spirit is too costly, and this is why God has sent His word to you today, reminding you to place priority and emphasis on the development of your spirit. Just like your physical body, the way to ensure the proper development and stability of your body is through proper nutrition and exercise. We must also ensure that we adequately feed and exercise our spirit. This is the only way to ensure that we never lack zeal and we maintain our spiritual fire and intensity according to our anchor scripture for today.
The food for the spirit is the Word of God! And, we exercise our spirit through prayer and application of the Word. If you are so interested in maintaining the glow of your spirit, you must consciously put in place a schedule to ensure that you are always studying and meditating on the word of God. Joshua 1:8a (NKJV) says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night…” Also, prayer should become a consistent lifestyle for you. Luke 1:18 (NKJV) say, “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,” When word study and prayer become your lifestyle, you will develop a strength in your spirit that can sustain you into all round victory.
FURTHER STUDY: Luke 2:40 (NKJV), “And the child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.”
CONFESSION: I BOLDLY CONFESS, MY SPIRIT IS CONSTANTLY ON FIRE FOR GOD. I GIVE NO TIME TO SLOTHFULNESS OR WEAKNESS. I AM AN ADDICTED STUDENT OF SCRIPTURE AND I PRAY EXTENSIVELY IN THE SPIRIT. I AM MAKING PROGRESS.
ACTION POINT: Begin to give special attention to the things of the Spirit.
