MONDAY 12TH
COMMIT SCRIPTURES TO MEMORY
-Pastor Ogechi
Colossians 3:16 (NKJV), “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord.”
As a child of God, you must know that you are not just a mere human being; you are born of the Word! 1 Peter 1:23 (NKJV) says, “Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the Word of God which lives and abides forever.” What I want you to know is this: if you were born of the Word, you will only be sustained by God’s word. This is why you need to load yourself with God’s Word, so that in the midst of any situation whether planned or impromptu, the Word of God will flow freely out of you to address the case and produce testimonies.
Joshua 1:8 is very popular, and its message is still very worthy of mention. It says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”  Dear friend, your success, your prosperity, the framework for your positive attitude are all found in the Word. You need to do so much more than just read it, you must move one notch higher, and commit the Word to memory. This is a very good habit that every Christian can and should imbibe. Learning to memorize Scriptures would help you in a very special way towards spiritual growth, effectiveness and development. It will energize you in no small way towards winning by the Word in the face of uncertainty.
It is important that I add here that the test and trials of life do not come with a timetable. The tests of life will never give you advance notice, and would certainly not wait for you to pick up your Bible in that moment to look for a Scripture to use. Start today to develop the habit of memorizing Scriptures.
FURTHER STUDY: Jeremiah 15:16 (NLT), “When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
CONFESSION: I BOLDLY CONFESS, GOD’S WORD IS MY LIFE SOURCE. I MEDITATE WITH GREAT DELIGHT, I RETAIN GOD’S PRECIOUS WORD IN MY MEMORY WITH EXCITEMENT. BY THE WORD OF GOD THAT I HAVE HIDDEN IN MY HEART, I AM MAKING TREMENDOUS PROGRESS.
ACTION POINT: Make an attempt at memorize at least one new verse per day.
ONE YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN: Ezra 3-5; John 20
