Ethnic Cleansing in Myanmar has Become Full-Scale Genocide – Amanda Casanova

Ethnic Cleansing in Myanmar has Become Full-Scale Genocide

The Rohingya crisis in Myanmar, where thousands of people have fled the killing in the country, is “genocide,” said Azeem Ibrahim, a senior fellow at the Center for Global Policy.
Ibrahim, in a column for CNN, said while the crisis has long been described an “ethnic cleansing,” the situation has turned into genocide.
The United Nation’s 1948 Genocide Convention defines genocide as acts that are committed with “intent to destroy” in the whole or part of a national, ethnical or racial or religious group by killing, causing bodily injury or mental harm, imposing measures to prevent births.
“Though the Rohingya situation has met most of the above criteria for being described as a genocide under international law for a number of years now, the label has been resisted until now because we think of genocide as one huge act of frenzied violence, like the machete insanity in Rwanda or the gas chambers of Nazi Germany,” he said.
Ibrahim says in Myanmar that Buddhist monks are preaching that the Rohingya are reincarnations of snakes and insects and killing them is a sort of “pest control.”
“The duty of any good Buddhist who wants to maintain the national and religious character of Myanmar is to prevent the Islamist takeover, and thus to help remove the threat posed by the ‘vermin,’” he says.
Some 600,000 Rohingya have been driven out of Myanmar because of the violence and persecution.
“More than half of an entire population has been removed from their ancestral lands in just eight weeks,” Ibrahim says.
“Just like we did in Rwanda, just like we did in the Balkans, we are once again seeing a genocide happen before our very eyes,” he added. “And we will do nothing about it. We will bury our heads in the sand, and when our children will ask us why we let this happen we will plead ignorance. Once the final act of killing starts, it is usually too late. For the Rohingya, the final act is in full swing. And still we are in denial about what is happening.”

Evangelist Nick Vujicic often speaks to massive crowds of people. Recently, he and his team reported that 400,000 people gave their lives to Christ at an event in Ukraine.
Vujicic was born without arms or legs, but that hasn’t stopped him from being involved in an influential ministry, which is called Life Without Limbs.
According to The Christian Post, Vujicic recently held an event in Ukraine and afterward posted a message on Facebook about its abundant success:
“The biggest event that our team at Life Without Limbs has seen and maybe the largest event ever in Europe – 800,000 people in the streets of Kyiv Ukraine! Thank you God,” he posted.
“400,000 repented of their sins and began their spiritual journey with Jesus – Now LWL celebrates the witness of 1 million decisions to walk with and trust God in everything face to face,” he added.
Vujicic also shared that he was in Russia for part of his European evangelism tour. “In Russia for 40 hours. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to meet the President this trip but we continue to plant seeds of love and hope across this country until some unique doors open to share – thank you for your support!”

Port Authorities in Sudan Detain Bible Shipment without Explanation

Port Authorities in Sudan Detain Bible Shipment without Explanation

Authorities in Sudan have detained a container of Bibles in Port Sudan without explanation for more than two years, a source said.
A Bible Society in Sudan representative told Morning Star News the container was one of two containing Arabic Bibles detained more than two years ago. The other container was released shortly after appeals to port authorities.
The detained shipments were destined for Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, said the source, who asked to remain unnamed for security reasons. At present the Bible Society in Sudan does not have a single copy of an Arabic Bible available in Khartoum, he said.
Other shipments of Bibles at Port Sudan, on the Red Sea, have also been detained over the past two years, he added.
A church leader said availability of Bibles and Christian literature in the country is increasingly limited.
“There is difficulty in getting Bibles in the country,” he said.
The Bible Society in Sudan representative said a port official in the past week has been more willing to consider releasing the shipment. Sudan links Christianity with the West, and Christian leaders speculated that Sudan may be opening to releasing the shipment as the U.S. administration lifted sanctions on Oct. 12. The sanctions had been in place since 1997 for Sudan’s terrorist ties and human rights violations.
Port officials were unavailable for comment.
Other international Bible providers have also complained of Sudan detaining shipping containers full of Bibles – usually due to corruption, but in some cases also to keep Judeo-Christian scripture out of the country.
Detainment of Bibles in Sudan also took place before 2011, with one shipment held up for nearly four years, the Bible Society source said.
Following the secession of South Sudan in 2011, President Omar al-Bashir vowed to adopt a stricter version of sharia (Islamic law) and recognize only Islamic culture and the Arabic language. Church leaders said Sudanese authorities have demolished or confiscated churches and limited Christian literature on the pretext that most Christians have left the country following South Sudan’s secession.
The Sudanese Minister of Guidance and Endowments announced in April 2013 that no new licenses would be granted for building new churches in Sudan, citing a decrease in the South Sudanese population.
Sudan since 2012 has expelled foreign Christians and bulldozed church buildings on the pretext that they belonged to South Sudanese. Besides raiding Christian bookstores and arresting Christians, authorities threatened to kill South Sudanese Christians who do not leave or cooperate with them in their effort to find other Christians.
Sudan fought a civil war with the south Sudanese from 1983 to 2005, and in June 2011, shortly before the secession of South Sudan the following month, the government began fighting a rebel group in the Nuba Mountains that has its roots in South Sudan.
Due to its treatment of Christians and other human rights violations, Sudan has been designated a Country of Particular Concern by the U.S. State Department since 1999, and the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom recommended the country remain on the list in its 2017 report.
Sudan ranked fifth on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2017 World Watch List of countries where Christians face most persecution.

Temple Mount Excavation Yields New Finds

Temple Mount Excavation Yields New Finds

Israeli archaeologists recently uncovered eight previously unearthed sections of the Temple Mount’s retaining wall in Jerusalem and part of a Roman-era theater in an area abutting the wall. Researchers estimate the theater is around 1,800 years old and believe the Roman Emperor Hadrian likely built it when he rebuilt the city of Jerusalem as a Roman colony.
It remains unclear why work on the theater appeared to stop abruptly. Joe Uziel, the archaeologist heading the dig, suggested the second Jewish revolt against Rome, A.D. 132–135, could have halted the construction.
The excavation will continue for another six months. The archaeologists hope they will uncover artifacts from the First Temple, built by King Solomon of the Old Testament and destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C. Jewish exiles returned to Jerusalem and built the Second Temple, which was dedicated around 515 B.C. Roman soldiers burned the temple and razed Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Jews still consider the Temple Mount the holiest site on earth. Today the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Islamic Dome of the Rock sit on the site.
“We have a great deal of archaeological work ahead, and I am certain that the deeper we dig, the earlier the periods we will reach, further anchoring the profound connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel and to Jerusalem,” Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch of the Western Wall and the Holy Sites of Israel told the Times of Israel.
Uziel said he hoped further excavations would shed light on daily life in Jerusalem after the Roman attack.

Christian Magistrate Fired for Views on Gay Adoption Loses Appeal Case

Christian Magistrate Fired for Views on Gay Adoption Loses Appeal Case

A Christian magistrate in the UK who was fired from his position due to his views on gay adoption has lost his appeals court case.
The Christian Post reports that Richard Page, a magistrate for the Kent and Medway National Health Service Trust, was fired after he stated his opinion on national TV that children are better off when they are placed in a family with a mother and a father rather than in a family comprised of a same-sex couple.
After making this statement, Page was accused of being “biased and prejudiced against single sex adopters.”
Page has defended his beliefs by stating, “My responsibility as a magistrate, as I saw it, was to do what I considered best for the child, and my feeling was therefore that it would be better if it was a man and woman who were the adopted parents.”
The Croydon Employment Tribunal, which denied Page’s appeal, maintained that he was fired not for his views on gay adoption, but because he participated in television media appearances to discuss his views on parenting.
Page remains committed to continuing his legal fight despite this recent setback. He is being backed by the Christian Legal Centre. Andrea Williams of the Centre said that the tribunal’s ruling “makes a mockery of the freedom of thought, freedom of speech, and the rule of law.”
“There is no real difference between suppressing dissent and suppressing an expression of dissent. To split hairs in this way makes no sense,” Williams continued.

Jimmy D Psalmist Shares New Single “Great And Terrible” Alongside Lyrics To Mark Birthday

0

Dynamic praise and worship leader, Jimmy D Psalmist releases new single “Great and Terrible” to mark his birthday today. The song is off his recently released album, MIGHTY MAN OF WAR.
Speaking about the song he says, “The reason why folks are afraid and are being molested by the devil is because of the lack of knowledge/revelation of the personality and capacity of our GOD.
“A child of an Army General can never and will never be afraid of a bully. I’ll like to remind you that you are the child of the MASTER of the UNIVERSE, the OWNER of the WHOLE WORLD. All power belongs to Him, so why are you afraid of the devil that is supposed to be under your feet?
“Allow me to tell you a little about your God in this song. If “Mighty Man of War” got you on your feet or made you soar like an eagle then get ready because this song “Great and Terrible” will embolden your inward man.
“Meanwhile, a full dose of “Mighty Man of War” album will take you to another dimension in God. Enjoy the presence of God.”
“Great and Terrible” was produced By Ebenezer Iriemi.

LYRICS
Great & Terrible by Jimmy D Psalmist
You’re sitteth in heaven and make the earth your footstool
Yet you live in me 2x
The river of life with fire in your eyes
What a wonder you are 2x
You built the earth and roofed it with the heavens
No pillar no walls 2x
You speak in thunder and clothed with yards of fire
How terrible you are 2x

Ewo ewo
Great and terrible God
Yes you reign

Eleh eleh
Great and terrible God
Yes you reign

Iyammi o iyammi o
Great and terrible God
Yes you reign

Chimoo chimoo
Great and terrible God
Yes you reign

My God you reign, you reign
Great and Terrible God
Yes you reign

Yes you reign, yes you reign
Great and Terrible God
Yes you reign

I’m not afraid, not afraid
Great and terrible God
Yes you reign.
